VivienneHello I’m Vivienne, I offer a confidential, professional and caring therapeutic counselling service to individual adults, children and young people.

During my training, I worked in the Life-force well-being centre and am currently based there in private practice for adults who have a variety of presenting issues. I also work in education in academies and schools across North East Essex talking with young people about matters that worry them or cause concern and anxiety. I have worked for a national children’s charity and continue to do sessional work as required.

Before I began my counselling career, I worked for many years in social care and I am a very experienced professional practitioner supporting children, young people and families through difficult times. As an experienced counsellor and professional practitioner I am registered member with both the BACP and the HCPC and abide by their respective codes of practice and adhere to their ethical guidelines.

I enhance my professional practice by regularly working in supervision, participating in professional learning programmes and hold indemnity insurance.

My Approach

The counselling session is the client’s time to discuss issues with which they need support. I work an integrative way drawing on an empathetic and reflective approach to problems and matters that concern individuals. Some events in people’s lives can make them troubled- feel lost, alone, unable to cope and are confused or unclear as to the how they might deal with it. The benefit of therapeutic counselling is that it can assist and support them when life seems too overwhelming and complicated. I adapt and incorporate elements of person- centred, integral, psychodynamic, integrative and creative techniques to enable people to find the best way of working that suits them or the individual.

I work with those who can find some life events complex and difficult. Those who may self- harm, lack confidence- who have low self – esteem, poor self- image and as well as people who have experienced loss, depression , anxiety, relationship issues. Those who maybe without the resources to cope. I have particular experience in working with those recovering from abuse and sexual trauma and domestic relationships issues.

Therapy with children and young people

For children and young people I use various creative methods which may include technology as well as therapeutic play, seeking to find the right approach and topic for each person in order to ensure the child or young person will not be judged as they are listened to and heard. You will find more detail on the young person’s page.

I have regular monthly supervision adhering to BACP guidelines and good practice and hold indemnity insurance.
